Guests may enjoy a stroll through private nature trails that feature an open sky butterfly farm and abound in a myriad of plant and animal species. A short walk from Mawamba Lodge is an unspoiled palm fringed beach, perfect for romantic strolls and evening star gazing.

Dining options include two family-style restaurants serving international and local Caribbean spiced cuisine. Guests can enjoy a savory selection of tropical delights before heading to the whirlpool area for some exotic tropical cocktails.

Activities and tours at the Mawamba include taking a boat ride through the Tortuguero Canals, a navigable network of lakes and canals that offer visitors some of Costa Rica’s most stunning variety of plant, animal and marine life. The Mawamba Lodge operates a fleet of sport fishing vessels ready to transport guests to world-class snook and tarpon fishing. Other activities include excursions to Tortuguero National Park, the town center and the Caribbean Conservation Corporation (CCC). From July to September, night tours take visitors to search for nesting Green Turtles.
