Lodge is a unique haven located at 7,000 feet above sea level, amid nature
trails, freshwater streams, and a myriad of exotic foliage and wildlife.
This family-run establishment offers guests an opportunity to experience
Costa Rica’s scenic cloud forests and their pristine environment from
the romantic tranquility of a true mountain hideaway. Trogon Lodge features quiet and comfortable rustic cabins with two private rooms, double beds, private bathroom, hot water and heating. The recently enlarged family-style restaurant " El Quetzal " serves a medley of traditional Costa Rican food, cooked in wood stoves. At the adjacent bar area, guests can enjoy peaceful garden and river views, as well as delicious fresh coffee-based drinks and cocktails. Trogon Lodge offers daily hikes and bird watching excursions into the cloud forest where guests can observe ferns, several species of orchids, centennial oak trees, bromeliads and a colorful variety of exotic birds including the elusive but dazzling quetzal (holy bird of the Mayan culture). Several well-marked trails provide ample opportunity for guests to explore the rich natural environment and breathe in the chill mountain air. Horseback riding is available at extra cost. All services are supervised by experienced guides, using first-rate equipment and implementing all necessary safety measures. Trogon Lodge is accessible by bus transfer or car from San Jose.
