The Rincon de la Vieja Lodge is a virtual rustic museum, constructed of wood and featuring 41 comfortable rooms. All electricity is generated by falling water. Rooms come with A/C, double bed and/or king size bed, cable TV, telephone, private bathroom with shower and tub, mini bar, desk, safe deposit box and balcony with lovely views of the surrounding forest.

A family style restaurant serves tasty traditional Costa Rican dishes, international cuisine and delicious desserts amid a friendly, easy-going atmosphere. At the hotel bar guests may choose a variety of refreshing cocktails and fruit juices.

While at the Rincon de la Vieja Lodge, guests may sunbathe by the small pool, inspect the scientific library, gaze bug-eyed at the fascinating insect & butterfly collection or slither into the serpentarium for a hisstory lesson on the local snake population.

Guests at the Rincon de la Vieja Lodge will have access to a 900-acre private reserve containing six types of tropical forests, thirty miles of trails that range from 2,100 ft. to 6000 ft. above sea level, horseback-riding tours and guided nature excursions. Additionally, there are archaeological sites, canopy tours and a 40-meter high sky walk bridge where visitors can observe some of the 257 species of birds and 11,000 species of plants that call this area their home. At the nearby active Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, visitors may marvel at sulphur hot springs, fumaroles and bubbling mud pots – all the while admiring spectacular views that on a clear day include distant Lake Nicaragua.
