Costa Rica Marriott Hotel * * * * *

Combining the rustic elegance of a 16th Century colonial hacienda with luxurious modern amenities, this five-star hotel stands proudly in the middle of a working 30-acre coffee plantation. Costa Rica Marriott summons pure relaxation as it takes guests back to a time when graciousness reigned. The hotel’s spacious grounds are filled with colorful vegetation, a driving range, three outdoor swimming pools, a Serenity Spa and workout room, five restaurants and two gift shops.

The tastefully decorated rooms are equipped with air conditioning, AM/FM alarm clock radio, international cable TV, mini-bar, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, bathrobe, safe-deposit box, telephone with voice mail, nightly turndown service and complimentary daily newspaper. Finca Rosa Blanca Country Inn

Finca Rosa’s impressive architecture was inspired by Gaudi and the Santa Fe style, lending an elegantly unique backdrop to Costa Rica’s best boutique hotel choice in the San José area. The hotel is situated in a 10-acre farm and is surrounded by giant tropical fig trees and other exotic vegetation high in the hills of the spectacular Central Valley. Sweeping views prevail, offering glimpses of volcanoes, cloud forests, and coffee plantations. Andrew Harper's Hideaway Report says: "Here, artistic owner-hosts Glenn and Teri Jampol make you feel like a special guest in a winsome private home." This artistically designed inn brims with eclectic adornments, including an assortment of pre-Columbian artifacts, contemporary paintings, wood sculptures, beautiful weavings, unusual furnishings and intriguing objects collected over the years by its owners.

The Rosa Blanca Honeymoon Suite is built inside a 40-foot-high tower with a 360-degree view of the wonderfully vivid countryside and the Central Valley. An graceful staircase built around a Cristóbal tree trunk leads down to the master bathroom. There, a hand-painted tropical rainforest mural surrounds the bathtub-pool, which is fed by spring water cascading down a stone waterfall. No description can quite capture this room's unique design, where you may enjoy your own bar and sumptuous living room that opens onto a large private patio.

An extraordinary hillside infinity swimming pool provides luxuriant bathing and is surrounded by tropical gardens, secluded decks and shaded verandas where guests can sunbathe and enjoy the magnificent vistas.

Xandari Plantation

When architects and artists Sherrill and Charlene Broudy envisioned a paradisiacal setting that would reflect Costa Rica’s natural beauty, they created Xandari Plantation. Seventeen stunningly designed, spacious villas are spread out on a 40-acre coffee and fruit plantation that overlooks Costa Rica’s Central Valley. No detail has been spared, from the landscaped tropical gardens and the hand-made furniture, to the sumptuous villas with expansive private terraces. Original works of art adorn each of the villas. The honeymoon suite boasts a private terrace with a view, a walled-in sun area, a bar kitchen and private lanai veranda.
Hotel amenities include a lap swimming pool, Jacuzzi and dining terrace with a panoramic view of verdant coffee farms and the surrounding Central Valley. Massage and spa services are offered in a romantic thatched roof rancho or in-room. More than three kilometers of scenic trails through coffee and fruit orchards lead through a lush tropical setting to a river and five beautiful waterfalls.
All hotels include transportation to and from the airport, as well as a delicious daily breakfast. Honeymoon amenities vary from hotel to hotel, but each one is bound to surprise you with a personal touch!

Monteverde Cloud Forest - A Honeymoon Fairytale...
(3 days)

Straddling the Continental Divide in western Costa Rica, the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve is Costa Rica’s most famous cloud forest. Clouds drift in and nestle among the rolling hills, providing a constant source of moisture that nourishes the dense, lush vegetation, giving the cloud forest its name. The reserve contains a wide range of altitudes, creating perfect environments that support a huge variety of plant and animal life, from wind-blown dwarf woodlands on the exposed high ridges to protected cove forests, where giant trees decorated with orchids, bromeliads, ferns, vines, and thick mosses tower above the dark forest floor. The Monteverde Cloud Forest also houses the rare and exotic resplendent quetzal and the elusive jaguar.
Gurgling streams wind through swamp forests, and waterfalls punctuate the forest’s song.
With three days in Monteverde, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the park’s seven trails that wind more than six miles through the dense forest.
You and your partner will love the El Establo Hotel, which is a beautiful, cozy lodge tucked in the middle of the Monteverde conservation area. From your room, you can walk to the Ecological Farm and Butterfly Garden, and you’ll be pampered by the hotel’s excellent service. El Establo lies just seven kilometers from the Santa Elena Rain Forest Reserve, and four kilometers from the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The hotel’s extensive gardens provide a romantic fairytale-like setting for your celebration of love. Other activities include mountain biking, horseback riding, and a visit to the Butterfly Garden or Serpentarium. A favorite among visitors is the local Cheese Factory Tour (where some of the country’s best dairy products are made), or the Sky Trek Canopy Tour.
Once you’re comfortably settled in, you can take a leisurely stroll around town to explore this dreamlike setting. Do whatever you wish: hike through the forest, take a tour of the famous local cheese factory, or browse the locally produced arts and crafts. As night falls, choose among the many excellent restaurants in the area for a memorable, romantic dinner in the clouds.

Arenal Volcano: Natural Warmth for Your Soul!

Day 1: After breakfast in Monteverde (or another starting point), your journey continues to La Fortuna, near the conical Arenal Volcano and bucolic Lake Arenal. Rising majestically from Alajuela’s fertile, undulating hills, the Arenal is considered one of the most active, and beautiful volcanoes in the world. You might see colorful mushroom clouds of smoke, visible day and night, as well as feel and hear the powerful rumbling that emanates from deep within the volcano. You’ll stay at Tabacón Resort, a tropical wonderland that will make the perfect base for you and your spouse to explore this tantalizing area.
In the afternoon, you can travel around a path that winds through rolling fields and verdant forests, up to the base of the volcano, where you can see hardened lava flows. Or, you can spend some time in the resort’s incredible natural spa for a mineral mud facial or a relaxing massage. Regardless of your choice, we highly recommend ending your day at Tabacón Resort, where you can literally soak away your worries, relaxing in the steaming volcanically heated natural hot springs. You’ll have either a charming room or a beautiful suite waiting at Tabacón, where on clear nights you can relax on your private terrace and take in mesmerizing views of Arenal Volcano in eruption!
Day 2: During your second day in the Arenal area, you’ll take a guided bike trip to a trail that converges where the forest, Arenal Volcano, and Lake Arenal meet. You’ll head deep into the forest to the entrance of Arenal Volcano National Park, which takes you to the Arenal Observatory and later back to the main road.
Excitement and peace prevail. You are sure to see many different birds, perhaps even colorful toucans and trogons. And you’ll definitely enjoy the pastoral beauty of the Arenal area. This short journey provides a wonderful setting for nature and fun-filled pictures of your honeymoon!
Head back to Tabacón for a final dip in the therapeutic hot springs or visit the spa for a reviving body massage to loosen up your mind and body for a night of romance.
